I-84 Crash at Nampa Off-Ramp Sends Oregon Driver to Hospital, Blocks Traffic for 90 Minutes
A early-morning collision at the Karcher Road exit on Interstate 84 in Nampa sent one driver to the hospital Sunday and blocked westbound traffic for roughly 90 minutes. Idaho State Police are investigating the crash, which occurred around 5:48 a.m. on May 24, 2026.
Authorities say a Mazda 5 heading westbound on I-84 struck a Volvo truck-tractor pulling a Great Dane trailer near the westbound off-ramp. The Mazda’s driver, a 23-year-old man from Ontario, Oregon, was transported to a hospital by ambulance. The Volvo operator, a 54-year-old man from Beaverton, Oregon, did not require hospital transport.
Westbound lanes at that stretch of I-84 remained closed for approximately one and a half hours while emergency crews worked the scene. The Nampa Police Department, Nampa Fire Department, and Canyon County Paramedics all assisted Idaho State Police in responding to the incident.
The crash remains under active investigation. No additional details regarding the cause of the collision have been released at this time.
