Future Caldwell Idaho Temple planned near West Orchard and South Florida avenues

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has confirmed the location for its future Caldwell Idaho Temple, selecting a 19.2-acre property at the southwest corner of West Orchard Avenue and South Florida Avenue in Canyon County. The announcement marks a significant milestone for the faith’s growing presence in the Treasure Valley.

Temple Details and Scope

Plans for the Caldwell temple call for an 82,000-square-foot, multistory structure, accompanied by a meetinghouse and an additional support building on the same property. The scale of the project reflects the substantial membership the church maintains across Idaho — more than 480,000 members worshipping in approximately 1,300 congregations statewide.

Church President Russell M. Nelson first announced plans for a Caldwell temple in April 2025. For more details on the confirmed location, see the Church of Jesus Christ’s official confirmation of the Caldwell Temple site.

Part of a Broader Idaho Temple Presence

The Caldwell facility will join a growing network of temples across the state. Ten other Idaho temple projects are already operating, under construction, or in announced planning stages, with locations that include Boise, Meridian, Rexburg, Twin Falls, and Idaho Falls. The Caldwell temple would be the eleventh in Idaho, underscoring the faith’s deep roots in the region.

Impact on Canyon County Residents

For Canyon County’s large Latter-day Saint community, a local temple would eliminate the need to travel to Boise or other cities for temple worship — a significant quality-of-life benefit for families across Nampa, Caldwell, Middleton, and surrounding communities. The 19.2-acre site at West Orchard and South Florida avenues provides ample room for the full campus of buildings outlined in the plans.

The broader Caldwell community could also see economic activity tied to construction and long-term visitor traffic to the temple grounds, consistent with the pattern seen at other Church of Jesus Christ temple sites across the Treasure Valley.

What Comes Next

Church officials have not yet released a construction timeline for the Caldwell temple. Additional design details, groundbreaking dates, and permitting information are expected to be announced as the project advances.
