Caldwell Highway Intersection Closing This Weekend for Water Line Installation

Interstate highway

The Idaho Transportation Department will close the State Highway 55 and Montana Avenue intersection in Caldwell this weekend to install a water line beneath the highway. The closure runs from 10 p.m. Friday, July 10, through 5 a.m. Monday, July 13, affecting traffic in the area.

The work is part of a larger project to widen SH-55 between Farmway Road and Middleton Road, a critical corridor serving Caldwell and the broader Treasure Valley. Drivers should use Interstate 84, State Highway 19, or U.S. Highway 95 as alternate routes during the closure.

What the Wider Project Includes

Beyond the weekend water line installation, the SH-55 expansion will add lanes, construct detached pedestrian and bicycle pathways, and build an undercrossing near 10th Avenue. The overall project targets completion in 2028.
