A Caldwell intersection crash on Sunday evening claimed the life of a 35-year-old Caldwell man and left three juvenile passengers hospitalized after a driver failed to stop at a stop sign on the city’s east side. The collision occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m. on June 8, 2026, at the intersection of E. Linden Street and S. Kimball Avenue.
What Happened at the Caldwell Intersection
According to investigators, a 28-year-old man from Guatemala was driving a silver 2011 GMC Sierra westbound on E. Linden Street when he failed to stop at a posted stop sign and struck a white 2007 Pontiac G6 traveling southbound on S. Kimball Avenue. The Pontiac was operated by Miguel Vasquez, 35, of Caldwell.
Vasquez was pronounced dead at the scene. The Canyon County Coroner confirmed his identity, and an autopsy has been ordered to establish the full nature of his injuries.
The three juvenile passengers riding in Vasquez’s vehicle were transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the GMC Sierra was also taken to the hospital. All four survivors’ conditions were not immediately released.
Arrest Made Following the Fatal Crash
Following the collision, the GMC Sierra driver was arrested and booked into the Canyon County Jail. Charges had not been publicly detailed as of early Monday. Investigators noted that seat belt use by those involved in the crash had not yet been determined.
The intersection of E. Linden Street and S. Kimball Avenue remained closed for roughly three and a half hours as emergency personnel worked the scene. Responding agencies included the Caldwell Police Department, Caldwell Fire Department, Canyon County Paramedics, and Idaho State Police.
