Caldwell Police arrested a wanted fugitive on multiple felony charges following a coordinated law enforcement operation near the Norfolk apartments on Friday evening, May 15.
Officers with Operation Safe Streets, a specialized unit within Caldwell Police, located Jorge Quiroz at a Caldwell residence after learning he had an outstanding felony warrant and was believed to be armed with a handgun. Nampa Police Department’s Specialized Enforcement Team and Idaho Probation and Parole assisted in the operation.
High-Risk Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest
While conducting surveillance, Operation Safe Streets observed Quiroz leaving the residence and getting into a vehicle. Caldwell Police initiated a high-risk traffic stop to take him into custody.
According to Caldwell Police, Quiroz did not comply with officers’ commands. Nampa’s Specialized Enforcement Team deployed less-lethal force options to gain his compliance. Quiroz was eventually taken into custody without further incident.
Quiroz sustained minor injuries during the apprehension and was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance before being booked into jail.
Multiple Charges Filed
Following his release from the hospital, Quiroz was booked into Canyon County Jail on his outstanding felony warrant. Additional charges include felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor resisting arrest, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
A second individual, Keely Chastain, was also arrested at the scene on an agent’s warrant. Chastain faces charges of felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Multi-Agency Cooperation in Canyon County
The arrest demonstrates ongoing cooperation between Canyon County law enforcement agencies to apprehend fugitives and remove illegal drugs from local communities. Operation Safe Streets regularly partners with Nampa Police and state probation officials to locate and arrest individuals wanted on outstanding warrants.
The case remains under investigation. Both suspects are being held at Canyon County Jail pending court appearances.
What Comes Next
Quiroz and Chastain will face arraignment hearings in Canyon County Magistrate Court, where formal charges will be read and bail will be set. Prosecutors will review the evidence collected during the arrest to determine whether additional charges are warranted.
