Arrest Details
Kyle Robert Stearns was taken into custody after the victim contacted law enforcement regarding threatening messages about their breakup. Officers learned Stearns had attempted to enter the woman’s home through a window the night prior to the report. Police obtained an arrest warrant and established a controlled meet-up location where Stearns expected to encounter the victim.
During the operation, officers observed Stearns approaching with his hands inside his hoodie pocket. Law enforcement reported hearing the distinct sound of a firearm being racked before making the arrest. A handgun was discovered in Stearns’ pocket during the takedown.

Stearns was booked into jail facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, second-degree stalking, and trespassing. The case highlights the importance of reporting domestic threats to local authorities.
“We commend the victim for her courage and willingness to do the right thing in this scary situation,” said Nampa police Lt. Brian Jones.
