Nampa Sewer Project Closure Near Vallivue Schools Could Complicate First Day of Classes

A road closure tied to a major sewer construction project in Nampa is raising concerns for families in the Vallivue School District, with the affected intersection scheduled to reopen just two days before school starts in August 2026.

What’s Closing and When

The intersection of North Franklin Boulevard and Ustick Road is set to close on July 6 as part of the ongoing Purdam Trunk Sewer Line project. Workers are targeting a reopening by August 17 — two days ahead of Vallivue’s first day of school on August 19. The City of Nampa says it is “making every effort” to meet that August 17 deadline, but the tight window leaves little margin for delays.

The Purdam Trunk Sewer Line project launched in December 2025 and runs along Ustick Road between Madison and Can Ada roads. Work is expected to extend eastward toward Can Ada Road through the period from summer 2026 into early 2028, meaning additional road closures are likely as the project progresses.

Detour Routes and Contact Information

Drivers navigating around the closure can use posted detour routes on Madison Road, Cherry Lane, and 11th Avenue North. Families and commuters with questions can contact the city at 208-465-2221 or by emailing projects@cityofnampa.us.

Canyon County parents dropping off students on Vallivue’s opening day should plan alternate routes in advance, particularly if the August 17 reopening target is not met. This is not the first time Vallivue has navigated off-campus challenges — the district has faced other disruptions in recent months, including a board member resignation under a sheriff’s investigation.
