Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories announced a major expansion of its Idaho manufacturing operations on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026. The global technology firm purchased a 103,000-square-foot facility at 1406 N. Galleria Drive in Nampa, marking the company’s fourth manufacturing growth initiative in just two years.
Major Investment in Canyon County
The company committed approximately $150 million toward the new building and necessary equipment. This capital injection aims to boost production capacity for devices that protect, monitor, and control critical infrastructure systems worldwide. The Nampa location is projected to generate roughly 250 new jobs initially, adding to the local employment base in Canyon County.
This move underscores the strength of the regional economy. As noted in recent analysis of Canyon County economic output, the area continues to attract significant industrial investment. The expansion aligns with broader state trends, including reports that Idaho revenue forecasts have strengthened as tax collections exceed projections for Fiscal 2027.
Continued Growth Across the State
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories has aggressively scaled its domestic footprint recently. Prior to the Nampa acquisition, the company opened a new electronic manufacturing facility in Moscow and expanded operations in Charlotte, North Carolina. It also acquired the Pullman Building Supply property as part of its growth strategy.
SEL President Dave Whitehead attributed the expansion to sustained global interest in the firm’s technology. “Customer demand for SEL products and solutions continues to grow around the world,” Whitehead said.
Supporting Local Manufacturing
The company’s leadership emphasized the role of the state business climate in facilitating this growth. Founder Ed Schweitzer highlighted the favorable conditions for industry in Idaho.
“Idaho has created an environment where manufacturers can grow, create opportunities for families and build products that serve customers around the world,” Schweitzer said.
The expansion adds to SEL’s existing presence in the state, which includes a circuit board fabrication facility at 2615 Reisenauer Road in Moscow. The Nampa project represents a significant step in scaling production capabilities to meet international demand while retaining high-value manufacturing jobs within Idaho.
