Two motorcycle riders from Washington were hospitalized Monday after their bike struck an oil slick on US-20 in Canyon County, Idaho. The crash occurred at 12:46 p.m. near mile marker 1, according to Idaho State Police, who are investigating the incident.
The 57-year-old operator and 55-year-old passenger, both from Woodinville, Washington, were attempting a legal pass of a semi-truck when the motorcycle hit the slick surface. The bike came to rest on the roadway shoulder following the collision.
Emergency responders transported the operator to a local hospital by ground ambulance. The passenger was airlifted from the scene due to the severity of her injuries. Both riders were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
