Vallivue School District’s proposed 10-year plant facilities levy failed after unofficial results early Wednesday showed 53.35% of voters opposed it. The measure would have raised $30 million, or $3 million annually, for district facilities.
Vallivue Plant Facilities Levy Results
The levy would have supported maintenance at 15 district buildings totaling more than 1.6 million square feet. Vallivue also maintains 300 acres of lawns and landscaping and handles about 2,560 maintenance work orders each year.
The plant facilities levy has been in place since 1987. Approval would have extended it into its fifth decade. The proposed cost was $24 for every $100,000 of taxable assessed value.
Vallivue School District Facility Needs
Proposed uses included acquiring or improving school sites; constructing, remodeling, repairing or expanding buildings; purchasing or leasing modular classrooms; and furnishing facilities. The measure also listed safety, security, lightning, heating, ventilation, sanitation and technology upgrades among potential uses.
The district is seeking to add more schools as enrollment continues to rise.
Other Vallivue School Funding
Vallivue has a two-year, $7 million supplemental levy that voters approved in May 2025. That levy began this year and is scheduled to expire in 2028.
Voters also approved a $78 million school bond proposal in May 2023. The bond helped fund two new elementary schools.
